Adding a catch can on my car and was looking at valve cover access and while looking found this hose bbt all out of whack—not too sure what it could cause, but it’s just the fact of the matter that it was reinstalled in this manner. Cars been down for a while and I know the last shop that was in there—no names mentioned but it isn’t right—even if it serves no function it just looks like shit. See pics below. My question is. Is this supposed to be a molded hose as I see it can be a difficult install. And what is it actually for

It’s a common way to bypass the throttle body. It keeps the hot coolant from heating the throttle body and intake air.
Kenne-bell sold Kool valves to shut off the coolant flow in the summer, but could be opened up in the winter to keep things for icing up.
Gbodyparts sells new coolant pipes that don’t have the nipples.

I installed my own valves and painted them black in the early 90’s. They have never been opened.

I cut them off , pinched them together and had them tig welded , then I put a small black silicone cap over the ends .
