Hey guys, I am getting ready to replace my cat. converter hanger as the rubber is completely shot on mine. My question to you is how exactly does the old one come off? I see there are the two bolts that connect to the tranny crossmember, and it's kind of sandwiched in there. If I undo those two bolts, can the flat part of the cat hanger slide out or is it more complicated than that? I was going to buy the replacment that has the bolt hook, the rubber isolater, and the flat piece that mounts to the cross member. I just wanted to make sure before I start removing stuff that I have the right idea. If it's more involved than the two bolts, what else needs to be removed? Thanks in advance!

You have it figured out. Jack up the trans a little with a board on your jack and place it under the pan. That will take the pressure off and you can exchange your hanger.

You can keep the bracket and just replace the rubber hanger part (if that's the one that's bad) with a piece of an old tire cut to size....of course, you'll have to drill out those large rivets and replace with stainless steel bolts.....it's what I did to save money, and it worked.

Similar to this, you can get a universal rubber exhaust hanger from autozone or anywhere and then use this instead of old tire. The hangers are $4 or something like that and look better than tire, imo, not that many people see it anyway. You'll still need to drill out the rivets and replace with bolts but damn near looks factory when you are done.

Yep, I found Walker makes a couple exhaust hangers that use the same rubber strap. You just have to drill out all the rivets and swap them.
