I can tell you how NOT to install them. DONT push them on. Nor pull them off.
Personally, I start with only two adjacent lug nuts on but not tight. I set the cap down against those tow (lower ones), and while holding it in place with one hand I put another lug not on opposite the first two and screw those three down as tight as I can by HAND. Then put the remaining two on and carefully torque them down with a good socket, 6"+ extension and ratchet.
Never ever let a tire shop anywhere near your wheels when the caps are in place. I take the caps off and leave them home when/if I need tire/wheel work done at a shop.
