Long story short...I dropped in a fresh SG1 block last summer, roller cam, blah blah blah (see signature) and ever since, the high volume front cover blows the gasket out right at the oil pan under boost. I've replaced it 3 times and the same thing happens. I'm told that I am not the only one who has had problems with HV front covers.

I am located in Lacon, IL which is about 25 miles north of Peoria, just off I-39. Is there a shop close by that can take a look at this thing for me, I just started a new job and don't have the time to mess with this anymore, but would really really like to have the car running before winter hits.

Wow that's a lot of crankcase pressure to do that.

Are you running open breathers? PCV system?

I just removed my PCV and switched to TA valve covers with twin wide open breathers. Should be good that way but I dunno for sure yet.

Cometic oil pan gasket too.. it's super beefy. Not crummy like the cork stuff.

I think your best best is Pro-Trac Turbo Specialists in Elmwood not far west from you. Dennis is supposedly a great GN mechanic.

I have heard the same thing about these front covers. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that mine doesnt do the same when it's all put back together.

I am running a brand new Delco PCV, Hartline tall valve covers with breather on pass side and fill tube on dr. side.

I replaced the oil pan gasket twice, thinking it was that, but we found the front cover gasket torn on the 2nd try, so I've been chasing it ever since. I will give a few of these places a call, hopefully I can get out for under $500.

Does the breather grommet have "flaps" in it? If so, those flaps would be restricting blowby flow and causing high crankcase pressure during boost. Solution is to cut the flaps out.

Actually that place is in Elwood IL which is about 1.5-2hrs from lacon up towards the chicago burbs. Elmwood is a small craptown about 20 minutes west of peoria. Just thought I would clear that up.
