I have a chevy 396 for my 83 regal (sorry, not planning on a turbo). I'm wondering how much i have to change the position of the motor mounts. Also, what to do about headers. I want some shortie headers but only one company sells them and they're $500. i've seen a lot of regals with small block chevy's, but no big block chevy's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

oh by the way right now it has a 4.1 v6

I just got done putting a 454 in my 87, the mount location should be the same as if you were swapping a small block. I used the forward most holes, which caused one of the four bolt holes to hang over the edge. I got some coated shorty headers for a mid 70's camaro and they worked fine. From the looks of it I thought I might have to ding them in a couple spots, but it worked out fine. You might also have some clearance issues w/ the oil pan, depending on if your gonna use the stock one or not. You might also have to whack the floorpan where it forms into the tranny tunnel for extra header clearance. And also depending on what distributor you use you may have some clearance issues with the wiper arm, I used a short profile msd billet and it cleared great. I also know some who use original hei units no prob. Also if your gonna use a mechanical fuel pump, keep in mind the lines are on the other side...other than all that, pretty simple, drops right in:D HTH

I'm pretty sure anything that is used to convert a mid 80's Monte Carlo into a big block car would work, to include headers.

sent Caddy 63 some picks of the location for the mounts. you could pm him for the picks. the post is here look for v8 mounts

use small block g-body motor mounts and frame brakets, from monte carlo. As for headers i used the hooker #2455 long tube headers 2 inch primary 3 1/2 collector,a very cheap alternative i had to grind down on the lower control arm mounts, dimple the tube to clear the brake proportioning valve, and grind down on the upper motor mount ears.I also an e-brock performer rpm intake and a regular proform open element filter it even cleared the stock gn hood.

Bbc 502

I'm puting a BBC 502 in mine . my question with the Frame mount and Motor mount is where to get that. do dealer still carry that or local part store?
