What would be the best chip for this setup, if that's what you wanna call it:
Stock turbo, injectors, adj. w/g, adj. f/p reg., walbro 340 hotwired, and scantool. I don't really have the funds to do the ecm swap(or the technical know how either!), so wanna stay with a chip for an 84 ecm. Daily driver, not looking for a 11 second car(yet)just a quick daily driver. Thanks guys!:)

You might want to call atr, I know they used to burn hot air chips and they might can hook you up since you are staying with the 84 85 ecm. Just a thought.

There are a lot of good ones. Try Joe Lubrant, Conley's PP, Red Armstrong, Jay Carter. They can help you with that type of setup.

I've gone the fastest (if that's what I can say is fast  ) with a Joe L chip.

It idles the best with his chip too...never one of my cars strong points with the 868's.

He can do some with the 84-85 ECM but much more with the 86-87. After 4 years of holding out I'm finally going to break down and convert to the later ECM.

Ok, another ?

What would the 87 ECM swap cost me, I am on a limited budget? Also what is involved? I have looked at the gnttype.org writeup on this but it seems greek to me, need it in layman's terms! Thanks guys!;)

Changed my mind....

 Gonna do the 87 ecm swap, traded it(ecm)for a part I had left over from the 84 GN I had. Now I need to find a cheap maf. Anybody got a known good one for cheap?:D

Jay Carter or even Joe Lubrant, I have heard, will set up the 87 chip to use the 84/5 MAF tables so you don't need to do the MAF change...In other words, keep the 84/5 MAF but still do the 86/7 ECM swap...

Since Joe L isn't with PTE anymore, I'd imagine PTE would still be able to do this type of chip??? Not sure...

I do know that both of them, Jay C and Joe L have done them before...

You may want to post the question again in the chips section of this bulletin board...Both Jay and Joe check in there to answer questions all the time...They can help you out...
