Re-Doing my car. Took all trim off of car, curious if anyone has had the trim Chromed?? This is that Anodized aluminum crap that gets hazy, and can't be polished unless it's stripped.

Looking for someone around Wisconsin that does chroming, or any input from others on this subject.

What about stripping the Annodize, Polish and powder coat. I did that with the ribs on these wheels.

It can be tricky as I found out to get the powder to stick to polished surfaces but it can be done.

Looks good. I thought about that, have been told by too many people that spraying clear, or powdercoating a polished aluminum product will eventually fail. better off to just polish it. Theres a place around here that does polishing and says if what they polished ever gets dull, they'll re-polish it for free (wheels, etc) not sure what they use that they can guarentee this, I would think bare aluminum will dull out eventually..

I dont know, I've seen lots of others do it, and now seeing your wheels.

I have some dings too, and I would think through the chroming process they can "fix dings/dents" prior to chroming.

I'm just concerned about the cost, having all the trim "flawless" and mirror like would be just awesome for the car, and really set it off.

And it may fail. First time I did those wheels I undercured them and it flaked off the polished parts. So I redid the parts and so far it's lasted 9 months.

Maybe Rmar will poke his head in and comment.

The chroming process itself will not fix the dents and dings. They usually take them out like with a hammer and anvil

I understand that, I meant like hammer/dolly them out, and then use some kind of a filler (brass, tin, copper I'm not exactly sure, heard about it once) to fill the minor imperfections.

Well dropped all my trim ( Limited car, so ALOT of Trim) off @ the chromer today, only about 25minutes from my house surprisingly. He's gonna strip and chrome everything, told me the lower rocker moldings/lower door moldings are Stainless steel, and he's gonna fix dents and polish them. Can't wait to see everything CHROME!! will post pics when it's done, like late next spring.. Not cheap, but w/ everything else on the car looking as good as I plan it to, this is just another detail in the finished product.

anyone else ever done, this??? maybe I'm just that obsessed, White Car, Black vinyl top, and Chromed trim, can't wait....
