humm, i see to be having this clanging/banging noise when i slow down, stop, turn corners and sometimes shift gears... it seems like then this sound radiates to below the floor boards and i can feel it at my feet... i figured it was my bushings in my suspension decided to go on pernament vacation but i looked at them and they werent to bad looking. someone then suggested to me that it could be the u-joints.

what would you think?

if it is the U-joints, i assume is a pretty easy job, a torch, a vise and two sockets right? if i remember correctly, there is a plastic up around the u-joints that needs to be nuked out before you can press the u-joints out, right?

hopfully this can be something simple, but i am sure that will be the case.

Just a possibility.....have you checked the condition of the rear end lately? A friend of mine had similar clanking which was not the u-joints....there was a tooth MISSING in one of the gears. Especially the way you describe the noise it could be rear end related....just a thought

yikes, i hope not

Checked the transmission mount? I had one go bad one time and did the same thing

You said you checked your bushings. How did you check them? Visual? I had the bushings on my car go bad. The one by the DP took a dive and I had a similar condition to what you describe. But I didn't see it on my first visual inspection. It wasn't until I took a bar and physically tried to move the control arm, did I see the movement.

Mine got so bad that I could feel it in the alignment.

Good luck.

the transmission mount is new

i have to get under my car sometime soon again, so i will check the bushings near the dp again

Check for the "infamous" cracked Pro-stars. BTW nice looking car!

mine was makin a clanking sound for a while and i found that the shims at the top of the A-arm were missing on the right side, replaced the shims and no more noise.:D

If the noise is U joints they will be locked up tight but 95% only the rear one goes bad. pull the staps and see if the joint is tight if it has platic in it its original!

thanks for the compliment. maybe this weekend i will check my bushings in my A-arms, the rear end gear, the u-joints...

anything else?

thanks

do you have a lot of fluid caked above the rear end? i do on my car and i think theres a seal where the DS goes in the pumpkin thats leaking. i think i need more fluid and a seal. my cars makes the same annoying noise.

UMMMM, IT MAKES THE NOISE ON ACCELERATION (I THINK BUT DUMP IS LOUD), WHEN GOING STRAIGHT OR TURNING IT IS NOTICEABLE, WHILE CRUISING, BRAKING AND PRETTY MUCH ALL THE TIME. PLEASE MORE INFO ON THIS BEARING DEAL. HOW TO FIX IT, HOW MUCH COST, ETC.

THANKS
