After putting a motor in a '96 Taurus this weekend for my wife's cousin, my garage floor needs a lot of help. I tried scrubbing with Dawn dish soap, Comet, bleach and a stiff broom and it got rid of all of the fluids but the floor seems to be stained. Any tips on how to get my floor looking good again? Plans next summer call for an application of the "U-Coat It" floor coating but I need it to look good until then. :(

Acetone

Or however you spell it. Works great. Gotta find the stuff that says for cleaning concrete, etc. Home Depot, Lowes, or any large hardware or paint stores.

Go to a pool store and get some full stregth muratic acid. Wear gloves and use in a well ventilated area. It is the best.

I tried acid on the driveway a few months ago. It bleached the heck out of the spot where I poured it but the oil stain is still there.

muriatic acid won't take care of oil. but it'll get just about -everything- else. I use it in my military dorm to clean the nasty grout in the tile ;)

Try using rice hull ash. Dump it all over the floor and let it sit for about a 1/2 hour, then sweep with a stiff broom. Too bad you didn't try that first, as it may be stuck in your floor. I have also had very good luck with ZEP commercial floor cleaner (kinda pricey though). good luck
