First, let me give a brief explaination of my situation. I'm in Germany and the car is in the US. I have my folks taking care of the car until I get back. It is driven several times a week to keep everything in good condition. Well, I got a call yesterday from my father saying the car had a code 22 and 45.
He said he was driving the car as normal and at about 45mph with no warning the car started stumbling and running poorly. He said the car got him home, but there was something obviously wrong.
I had him plug the t-link in to see what the idle voltage was for the TPS. He said it was .40 engine off.
I've read on gnttype.org that this code will produce a substitute value of 2.6v. I suppose that would explain the running rich. But with the t-link reading normal, I'm only praying that this isn't something intermittant.
This is the original sensor so I have no reservations about replacing it. Does this just sound like a dead spot in the sensor that let the voltage drop?
He's also complained that when cold, the car tends to have a dip in power when accelerating. At least until it warms up.
Everything sounds like TPS has gone bad to me... just wanted to hear what other opinions are out there.
Thanks.
