Well, i just found out after careful inspection that my coil is shot, i think the number one coil post where the plug wire goes is broken, as it wiggles a bit and someone apparently tried to put silicone around the base of it, and silicone around where the base of the coil and top of the module meet. I looked in postons, and it's gonna cost like 400 by the time i get the adapter, coil, module and some "base adapter". Does anyone sell any of that stuff cheaper? I haven't even gotten to upgrade the ecm yet... and so much for headers.

Get an 86-87 coil and module and caspers wiring adapter.
Total cost, about 250.00 (brand new)

wait, actually it comes out the same as poston's for the coil, module, adapter plate, and harness adapter. Is the adapter plate not needed?

without the adapter plate you will have to drill holes in your bracket to make the module fit. I suppose the adapter will it easier to service if needed.

Your coil is the problem right? You currently have 84/85 coil/module correct? Just get a 86/87 style coil and the plastic mounting adaptor that goes in between coil and module, and your good to go. No change in wiring, etc. Plugs up the same, just slightly smaller length thus the need for the adaptor. You do not have to change your module, if that isnt the problem. If you ever have module problems in the future then go to the 86/87 style since they are cheaper and more readily available. For now just get the newer coil and adaptor to mount it to the 84/85 module. Your cost can be as little as about $65 for this ($50 coil +$10-$15 adaptor). Thats a rough estimate getting just the basic parts that come up on the computer if you go somewhere like Auto Zone. Or you can get the Accell coil which comes with the adaptor for about $100. Actually, check the advertisors specials. I think someone had it on sale for less than that, maybe $70? (Racetronix, Ramchargers, Mike Licht/Full Throttle Speed).

thank you

ok, that clears an awful lot up, i thought i needed both a new module and wiring adapter to work with the coil, which is why i thought it would be so expensive. Thanks alot.

Yes, we have the high-output Accel coilpack with adapter on sale.
The Accel unit is nice as it has better (brass) contacts than other HP coilpacks.

Accel coil

I have had mine for just about 2 years now and about 11,000 miles. No problems.

where to buy

Racetronix, can i buy directly from you or do I have to get the accel & adapter through one of your distributors?
