Coil pack/ignition test

How do you test the ignition system? I know how to test old coils for primary and secondary resistance and all that jazz, but this is way different.

Is there a procedure published somewhere on how to shoot the wires on the ignition module and coils??

Also - years ago, when I started this madness, I remember a conversion kit you could do using the coil packs and ginition modules off of another GM V6. Like what you find on a 3.1 GM front drive anything. It has three seperate coils that can be individually tested and replaced. Does anyone know where to find that mod at?
