Cold air Intake vs Under hood

I am posting this question here to see what the TSM cars use.I have seen a few pics and all the ones I have seen locate the air filter infront of the bumper.Is their a perf gain in keeping the air filter out of the engine compartment?My car is only a street car raced a couple of times a year.Just looking for any simple advantages.Thanks for the input

dunno about tsm but the air is cooler outside of the engine compartment for sure

If the car is moving there is very little gain. THis has been covered in the general tech section

I understand and have read as much as possible on this .The reason I posted here is,I see a few of these cars use them and the general opinion in the other forums is no differance.I just wondered if it had anything to do with the set up they use in TSM.Just one of those things that make you go HMMM. Thanks for the reply.

Hmmmm. I know there isn't much of a temp difference, maybe there's a HP gain to be had with it
