Who's running a trans brake in a colum shift car? Which type are u running? Do u have any issues going in to neutral on the up shift? Any way to stop it like a consol shift car? Had a SR in my old GN worked great but new T is colum shift. Getting an idea of which way i want to go with future trans. Thanks Thanks
Dan

I know that turbo archie's limited is a column shifted car with brake so hopefully he will chime in and tell you.

i to would like to know this. i have column shift car and want to put a 400 with a transbrake

I've run a Stage Right Brake with a column shift for a few years now.

When I used it the first time I was slow to move it out of first when the light turned. So on the second pass I leaned forward in the seat and grasped the lever solidly. I did move the shifter faster....but when the car left it forced me back and my arm upwards and the shifter continued into reverse. Scared the crap out of me when I realized I was going backwards from the line after the initial forward motion. Luckily no one was doing a burn out behind me. When I finally got the car stopped then went forward the starter's jaw was still down around his knees. True story.

Anyway, column shifting sucks with a Stage Right. I finally fabbed a few brackets in front of the tranny lever just in front of the tranny along with a starter solenoid. Ran some heavy wires from the bat to a pushbutton then onto the solenoid. Now I hit the button and it activates the solenoid which in turn pulls the tranny lever out of first.

Think you could snap a few pics for us and mybe do a small write up when you get a chance

thanks alot

ya chris that would be some pics i would like to see. That story of yours is why i'm thinking of different options or maybe someone fabbed something up so this wouldn't happen like u did. I want to do this next car right the first time so the electric brake is definately an option.

Well, I run one and it its nice....it just takes a few "throws" to get used to. I got it down after doing twice on the street to practice. Its not to hard, just takes a little getting used too.

Sure....you'll just have to wait until spring.

Last week it was warm and sunny, and this week it's freezing so I won't leave the house for the cold shop. (And I blame it on that friggin' gopher that forecast 6 more weeks of winter.)

Chris at CK Performance has an electric one for about $500+ for us column shift guys. (I think?)

I dont run a trans brake but I do race a hot air Riviera and I shift it manually when I'm on the track. You just have to work on the technique. Its easier if you make the shifter linkage work as smoothly as possible. My Riv uses a cable instead of rods and it always shifts as smoothly as a hot knife through butter. I spent a lot of time on my column shifted Regal 455 car so it does the same.
