Blew a head gasket 3 weeks ago and putting it back together with cometic gaskets. Heads have a mirror finish. It's the block I'm a little concerned about. It was decked 500mi. ago, but the finish isn't like the heads. I can feel minor mill marks with my fingernail. I've been told Permatex Hytack and some GM coolant seal tabs will work fine. I have this and some Mopar gasket sealer we used to use on neon head gaskets. What do you guys think? Running out of time, car is supposed to run on Pinks all out at the end of the month, and it still has to go to the chasis shop for a cage! I don't want to make the wrong decision. I'm leaning toward hytack a coolant tabs, oh yeah lots of tuning!! Before I was running the RJC gasket kit.

The "mill marks" on the block surface are good. The "mirror finish" on the heads is bad. Your heads should have similar marks on the surface. Cometic, last I spoke with them, suggest the gasket go on dry, and to factory torque spec. If your finish is too smooth, them use a copper coat.

Hope this helps you.
