cometic gasket torque?

i have stock heads with cometic gaskets,and studs what should i torque them the studs nuts at ?

i believe it is 85ft lbs. i almost went cometic but went back with the stock replacement fel pro head gaskets. i torque mine to 85 ft lbs and i think it's the same for cometics................................................Bob

I am no expert but believe the torque to be a function of the bolts/studs and lubrication used. Torque is not a function of gaskets used.

I think it is important to recycle the bolts a couple of times-torque and then retorque like 4-5 times.

According to the paperwork with the ARP studs that I used 70lb/ft was correct when using the recommended ARP moly lube. I called Cometic just be sure and the tech guy recommended 70lb/ft also. I think 85lb/ft was correct when using 30wt oil as opposed to the ARP lube.
