Anyone have experience using Cometic gaskets with GN1's? I am using the 109 block w/ 8 bolt heads and 25-28 lbs boost so I would be interested in your combo and boost level. Thanks Brian

I realize that these gaskets are new on the scene, but surely someone has tried them. I'm going to bail on the stock gaskets and was looking into coppers, but the fluid leaking problems are hindering me from using these. Cometics seem in theory to be the answer ( keeping graphite out of the motor while keeping fluids in ). Any experiences helpful. Thanks Brian

The Cometic headgaskets out now are designed for Stage 2 setups pn#C5692 and have a 0.40 crushed thickness. They will work on 8 bolt and stock setups. As per Matt at Cometics they are in the process of making 8 bolt OEM gaskets and will be available in different thickness. They should be out by the end of the year.

Thanks Ed, I was told that 8 bolt gaskets are presently available(maybe I misunderstood). Would you please give me Matt's phone # @ Cometics so I can talk with him. My real concern is their use with aluminum heads and high boost! Thanks Brian

I just installed a set on 14 bolt Gn1s,we will see how they hode up.

import guys use them with iron blocks and alum head ...

larry mcbride (spider man) uses them on his motorcyle with 45-48# boost making 1400 hp at the crank with 4 cylinders

who is selling these now and for how much??

The current Cometic gaskets out have been on my motor for 2 months now and have seen 21 lb no problem. They are for both stage 1 and stage 2 heads (8 and 14 bolt) pattern. I love them and they go on dry (easy install and removal if necessary with no mess)
Mitch

Thanks guy's! I spoke w/ Tom @ Champion and he is now carrying these. He also mentioned that copper gaskets should be avaliable soon w/ silk screened sealant around the fluid passages. Mitch, are you running aluminum heads?,and would you mind cranking the boost up to 28 lbs for a few passes to see how Cometics hold up? Seriously, I wish someone had experience with high boost because my stockers worked fine 'till my boost hit 28 lbs for 30+ runs and still they did not blow out. They just started shedding graphite throughout my motor. Thanks again guys! Brian

Just curious?? What turbo are you running? Your combo is pretty fast. Ported GN-1 or out of box. Hyd roller or flat tappet!!

BUICKTR, I am running John Craig's TE45a. GN1's are out of the box, but are gasket matched on intake and exhaust. Headers are stock cleaned up and dowl pinned. Lunati 210/205 GSCA grind flat tappet is my cam. HTH Brian
