Hey folks,

I am bringing in a GN that I am interested in buying to get a compression test done and a leakdown test if I have enough time. The shop wants 120 for the compression and 80 for the leakdown test @ $80/hr (can)

Seems a little high to me, what do you figure?

you can buy the gauges and perform the tests yourself for less than a $100..........forever.

ok I called around a little bit and found a shop that will only charge $30!! The other place is obviously a rip off. I read that the compression should read around 150 psi. in each cylinder give or take 10 psi. Is this correct?

Also is there anything difficult about running the test? Meaning are there any parts that make running the c/t on a specific cylinder difficult or is there anything that needs to be removed?

compression test

Nothing especially hard about doing a compression test on a TR,
only the spark plugs have to come out to do the testing,
nothing else is in the way.
Also look for variance between cylinders, no more than 10%
I believe.
