Confused - Silly question - what is this large bolt for?

I pulled my intercooler to clean it, paint it, also replaced belt and hoses.
I am installing the intercooler.
I have three bolts the same size and larger bolt, for the life of me I can't figure out where the larger bolt goes as all the holes appear to be threaded the same and I've tried the larger bolt and no fit on either of the three side holes nor the bottom clip in nut.
No I'm nervous that this large bolt is for something other than intercooler??

I have the intercooler in my hand and I can't figure this out.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
Thanks,
Joel

If you replaced the top rad hose it may hold the bracket in the center of the hose, which may still be on your old hose.

Thanks, I did replace the hose and I did swap the bracket to the new hose.
This is driving me nuts. I have the right number of bolts but one is bigger than the other three and I can't find a place for it to fit. It looks like all four that hold the intercooler on are to be the same size.
As you face the car the two on the left are drilled and tapped the same size, but the hole on the upper part of the bracket is bigger than the hole on the lower part of the bracket. But the large bolt will clearly not fit the drilled and tapped hole on the intercooler. The hole on the clip on the bottom is for the smaller bolt and the single mount on the right is clearly uses the smaller bolts as the hole in the bracket is too small for this bolt to fit through.

The only hole this bolt fits through is the hole on the top of the bracket on the left as you face the car.
This is one of those moments when you think you are loosing it after too many hours on a cold concrete floor.
Thanks for the quick response though.

OK, Did I mention too much paint fumes from painting the accumulator for the AC conversion. The bolt was the rear hold down for the alternator (forgot to mention I pulled that off also). As I was laying on the floor, one of the intercooler bolts got separated from the others, so I thought I had four intercooler bolts when I had three intercooler bolts and the alternator bolt. I need to warm up, it is too cold for this stuff tonight. Thanks for the response indeed, sitting the computer helped me go back with a clearer mind. :)
This sort of thing makes you want to label every single bit you take off with sticky notes.

Thanks again,
Joel

That's what I love about working on cars especially on concrete; the zen of it... the pure relaxation...
the sheer terror when you find extra parts?!?!
Do_O

BUT, there are 4 bolts to a stock IC.... 1 drivers, 2 passenger , 1 underneath on pass side

Yes, I had the three, the fourth was basically underneath me somewhere, so I thought the alternator bolt was the fourth, I got up from under the car, pulled the intercooler, stared at the tapped holes waiting from one to change in size. Went onto the computer, came back and saw the fourth bolt, then started looking at the car again and saw the bracket on the back side of the alternator and the light went off.
Long cold day.
Yes, rev, spare parts are never fun to find.

If you have parts left over, that just means you built it better than the factory did. Those stupid engineers are always putting extra bolts and brackets everywhere...

Hell, back in my transmission shop days, we used to have contests to see who could have the most parts left over without the job coming back...

Ok I made that last one up. OR did I?!?!

LOL, I guess you were reducing weight and increasing performance, right?

Good one earl.

I usually try to leave the bolts where they came from, like when I pulled turbo heat shield off I threaded the bolts back into the brackets so I would not lose them.

This is what can happen when I don't do that.

Amazing how much time can be lost to such silliness.

Hope to get the car together today and get some photos

Joel
