Has anyone ever converted the TH200-4R to the 1983-84 Hurst Oldsmobile Lightning Rods 4spd shifter? I love the look of the shifter, kind of like a Lenco, and was thinking of doing a conversion in my GN. If you're not familiar with the shifter google it and check them out...

Do a search its been covered.

Buickgn.com has custom overlays for the conversion.

Just did one two weeks ago. If you have the right cable ( I think it's a 70's corvette cable) and lower cable bracket. It's a piece of cake. You will need the overlay and you have to cut some of the console out. I hope you know what you're getting yourself into financially. If you can find a shifter, expect to pay about $600 for the shifter plus all the associated stuff.

If you guys are going for the look, and don't mind the cost, then go for it. If you want a shifter for racing, skip it. Without modification they don't work as smooth as you would want for racing. Truthfully if you get your trans. set up right you shouldn't need to manual shift it anyway.

BUT, they sure do look bitchin'. And the car show comments will make you laugh quite often.

FWIW the set I sold for my buddy brought $650 on this board, with every bracket and plate and cable included. I could have had them for $500 but I passed, and I don't regret it.

hope this helps.
