any opinions on where to buy a good 3500 stall?

I just ordered my T/C from Precision Industries directly. Doesn't seem they give any of their vendors much discount so it's about the same price no matter where you get it.

Many other brands where recommended by some very reliable vendors. Very difficult to know what the best is. My second choice and a close second was an art carr converter.

Good luck!

I am thinking of going to like a 5,000-5,500 stall, I have a art carr 9'' 3400 no lock now or it is suppose to be a 3400 just doesn't feel like it, When I run I would like to not have to lay on the break so hard and no be able to feel the car when it is ready to leave the line, Was thinking of a Coan

Don't think it would work like that, I used to drive my SS/DA around the block when I lived in town and it had a 9'' Coan 5,500 stall, They always say on a tubro Buick if you want a 3400 get a 4400

ive got a 67bb ordered......3200 enough? they recomend 3500 ?

Well I have a 66bb and the art carr 3400, When my friend makes a run it does ok, He can come off at about 5-6 psi with drag radials, With slicks you can boost more but I drive with a handcontrol and what I don't like is having to lay on the break so hard, I am thinking about a 4 wheel line lock but don't know a lot about it, That is why I was thinking of a higher stall

Souns like youve got other problems besides your convertor(exhaust leaks would be the 1st place to check)

My 85 has a 72gtq turbo with a 4000rpm Pro Torque convertor and it spools FAST.Street driving a TR with a 5k stall would suck...

No other problems other than I think the torque convert has tightened up, No exhaust leaks, The car is on the street very few times,

Double-L

Lawrence--you need a Precision Industries lock-up with a # 6 pump (3600 stall) Your car WILL NOT like a 5000 stall and stay away from a Coan for YOUR car or any turbo car IMO. Buy the Precision L/U (not cheap but the best out there) when they pull the trans to put it in they will need to make the pump a L/U. then have Eric Marshall reburn your chip to force L/U @ 95 MPH @ WOT. That way you can spool the car, launch and drive down the track and let the trans do it all. When it locks it is like another gear. Best of luck.
