I test drove a TR that I'm seriously considering buying--only thing I found wrong is tcc locks about halfway through 1st gear and stays that way through 2nd, 3rd, and OD until you come to a stop again--doesn't feel like it unlocks with the brake pedal while cruising down the road either....sticking solenoid? Always unlocked by the time I got stopped, but really lugged the motor when grannying around.....thanks for the info in advance, Mike.

The torque converter can NOT, i repeat CAN NOT lock up in 1st gear.
Have you asked the owner why it happens? Is it another idiot owner getting rid of a car he knows nothing about?

It can lock as soon as it shifts to 2nd....... I chased this for 5 months, turned out to be a bad ecm. Some of the causes could be bad TCC seliond, bad ecm, faultly chip or a ground in the TCC curcuit.
Use the problem to leverage the price on the car it can be fixed.
