1. Blown ECM/SOL fuse 10A. Short in tranny or ext. wiring.

2. Open circuit on brake switch/wiring, no ground to solenoid.

3. Open circuit in tranny bad lockup solenoid or wiring.

Check to see if you are getting power to one of the pins in the connector on the drivers side of the transmission with the ignition in the ON position. That will give you an idea of where to start looking. You must have power to one of the pins in the connector for the converter to lock-up. You can use a test light to check it out. Let us know what you find. I had a simual problem with my car.

1. Make sure you have lock up converter installed (sorry, i had to!)

2. Check your switch at the brake pedal there are 2 swithes one for your brake lights and the other to disengage the TCC solenoid. Make sure that one is depressed (Closed) when the pedal is resting. They have plastic threads and my switch was forced from its location causing it to stay open when i pulled on the brake pedal with my hand one time...

3. Was anything changed prior to your issue?

Tagging along. I have voltage at the DS trans connector ) ALDL pin "F" jumped to ground , a new solenoid and still no lock up! Mechanical issues inside the trans?

Fixed. another dumb problem that just wasn't obvious. when I started to diagnose the problem, my gut feeling was that neither the wiring or switch were damaged simply because they were never messed with. So I go up under the dash to figure out which switch is which and start messing with the upper one that controls the converter and realized it felt wiggly. Turns out that however the switch clips in came un-done so the button on the switch was never being pressed that does the converter stuff because it was being pushed out with pedal movement from un clipping itself. I pushed hard and it clipped right back in and took the car for a drive and problem solved. P.S. what in the heck does that vacuum line go to that comes off the switch.

Glad to hear it's fixed. I had same problem with those pesky plastic threaded switches.

azbob, I'm told there are 2 circuits on the switch. One is for the brake lights, the other for the tcc lockup. trust me it weirded me out as well. I read another thread on the same problem and I would not be surprised if there was dirty contacts in the switch as well.

Dirty contacts.. That was me. I tested the switch with an ohmmeter. It was a constant open circuit. The switch comes apart easily. Just don't lose the spring.

There are brass looking strips in there. Mine had black lines where contact was being made. A touch with some 400 sandpaper shined them up. A dab if dielectric grease. no probs since.

I had a car this week that was :cool:missing the sealing o ring on the input shaft. It could be It could be a bad converter too. First go through the flow chart and be sure the ECM is commanding lockup.
