my trany is quickly jerking in 4th gear when WARM. i believe it has something to do with the lock up as it stops when i lightly apply the brakes.
usually the solenoid fails in lock up all the time or none at all, not intermittant. i still have the check ball in the input shaft so the apply is usually not jerky
I hope its not the TCC slipping.
maybe its 4th gear slipping and i just cant feel it unless the converter is locked?

Any opinions?

Andrew

found it... not trans issue

The TPS sensor was on its way out and i could only feel it when the converter was locked. As it got worse it started to sputter in all gears.

did your symptoms before the TPS replace feel like the converter was locking and unlocking in 4th?

just had the same problem and was afraid of another trans rebuild:mad:
thanks

at first yes, weeks later then it was in all gears. i belive it was noticable in 4th because of the direct link when the converter was locked. as it got worse i was able to see the TPS on the scan master reading 2.0v in idle.

Thanks for your input
I will have to start looking for a TPS then

If you have a plug misfiring or breaking down you can feel that when the converter is locked and tends to "go away" when you touch the brake pedal. Mechanical link will transmit that thru the driveline. Glad you found it.
