This is a two part post

1st question
Will there be a rise in temperature between a stock stall D5 converter and a 2800 restalled 12" converter?

Will a 2800 stall 9/11 or 10/12 run cooler than a restalled D5 of the same stall?

The reason I ask, is that my stock D5 isn't locking up anymore and I need to replace it, but am concerned about tranny temps. I have a hybrid, and the rad is pushed to the max right now. I do run a big B&M external cooler with fan, but I don't want to load up the cooling system any more.
(Yes... I know, I looking into a custom made aluminum rad)

2nd question
I have a concern about streetability. Will there be a significant loss of traction going up in stall to 2800 from stock? The car is 2800 lbs.

Thanks
Paul

The higher the stall, the greater the slippage, slippage generates heat.

If in doubt put a temp guage in the system, and see what the actual temp is, then contact your tranny guy to get his opinion about what cooler to run.

Sometimes you just have to do things you don't want too, it's usually better to just bit the bullet, and do what's needed, rather then try to go with something too trick. Lots of *too* trick items are costly (ask me how I know).

Being light is in your favor, but when power braking, it's immaterial.

increased heat will be minimal .the converters are very eficient, and when locked the temperature will be the same.the only time youll have a slight increase in temp will be when spooling it up .after that no change.contact our canadian branch if you want a restalled d5 they should have it in stock.

Thanks for the replies, but still curious...Will a 2800 stall 9/11 or 10/12 run cooler than a restalled D5 of the same stall?

Also, second part of the question...Streetability?
