Ok so finished the motor install and it came time to bolt it up to the flywheel. Guess what, I cant turn the converter at all. When I put the converter on the trans it took a few times but the converter went on flush. At this point it was my fault because I didnt check to see if the converter turned freely at this point. A note to add when the motor came out I couldent get the converter off the flywheel so it came out with the motor. Do you guys think the converter is on incorrectly or the front pump is torn up?

More than likely the conv. isn't engaged in the pump. The conv. should sit into the bellhousing about an inch. You should also have 1/8 to 3/16 between the flexplate & conv. with the trans. bolted to the engine.

I agree with the above. If you have bolted everything up its imperative that you loosen it all out and check for pump converter damage. Its better now than when the fluid starts flying.

Well I pulled the motor off the bellhousing and the converter spins freely now, so my guess is that the convterter didnt fit right. Imma go back at it and pull the converter off and check it out.

John,
Just nake sure that the converter engages all the way into the pump. Just keep spining that sucker till it it goes all the way in. If you are still unsure , pull the converter all the way off and start all over.

It was engaged just not sitting right in the flywheel. So I yanked the motor out again.... and pulled the converter off. All the splines were in tact and the bushing looked fine also. So back to the install of the converter and it went in fine. The rest of the install went as planned.... just took a little aligning here and there. So tomorrow a few little odds and ends and she's back on the road again!
