It's rare because no one would ever make it and keep the value of the car. It's a model of a production car that never existed.

Yup Coach Builders did do a GN. Saw it in Bowling Green years ago. I think they also did a Limited car but not a production car as Charlie states.

this car is from one of the buick excutives and might still be in michigan somewhere. the last i herd on this site.

Here are a few more pictures of convertible GN's...I always about the small rear side glass they added...Are they custom-made, or are they from another car model which "happens" to fit?...Unfortunately, there ins't much documentation anywhere about these cars...:frown:

My friend owned a convertible GN in the St. Louis area. He has moved to Florida about 5 years ago. I believe he still owns the car. Kirban's book - Kirban's Guide to Buick Turbo Regals page 321 - 322 had some pictures of his car in it. The car had a fair amount of miles on it when he purchased it, but he fixed the car up real nice. The car was originally built by Coach Builders in Florida. I did see another convertible at the GS Nationals about 3-4 years ago. I think it was a different car.

I seen one at a Buick dealer in Chicago back in 89 or 90.The sales guy told me a builder in California did two of them and the price was just under 10k for the conversion.Looks like crap with the top up.Although the one above with the small windows looks pretty cool

I sure am glad these never went into production. I am not a fan of the look at all. It gives it a Chrysler K car look.

There is a convertible GN featured in the "1991 Buick GS Nationals" vhs cassette tape made by Creative Video Images. In the video, the owner says that it began life as an '82 Regal which when he bought it, was a convertible already. He completely took it apart, restored it, and converted it into an '87 GN convertible, complete with correct GN motor and transmission, interior with custom back seat and custom convertible top inside grey liner, wiring harness, computer, wheels, trunk spoiler, front air dams, etc...You can also see that the car's registered in North Carolina...
There is also another one featured in "Kirban's Guide to 1986 and 1987 BUICK TURBO REGALS" on pages 321-322 with Missouri license plates reading "SHW-DWN" ...
