A free program that I down loaded from the internet is called DVD Decypher. It is able to rip encrypted DVD's even most with the most recent/advanced forms of encrypting. It will also burn to a DVD. It will burn either from a DVD reader or else from a file on your harddrive (as long as it recognizes the format it is saved in). There are other programs out there that will burn also such as Roxio and Nero. These cost money however unless you know someone who has a copy. Most DVD burners come with a program to burn. Mine came with Roxio. The problem is ripping. DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter will take care of that.
I finally got my problem figured out. My external USB burner was connected through a non high speed USB port. That caused all kinds of problems. A new 19 dollar card with high speed ports fixed all my problems.
