Craigs list scam? Sounds "Phishy"

I put a N2O kit up for sale and got a response asking if it was still for sale.

I responded and got this response back a few hours later.



Hello i really appreciate your response to my earlier mail.like i said i will like to buy this item so pls do withdraw the advert from Craigslist. I will also like you to know that i will be paying via check and will also have my own mover to come to pick the item from your location .I will need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the mailing of the check.


1.Your full name to be on the check


2.Home or work address


3.Your phone number.


**I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for moving i will have my mover come over for the pick up as soon as you have cashed the check**

Smells fishy to me. Doesn't ask any questions about jet sizes or anything.
And what the heck is his mover? Sounds like he is info Phishing to me.

The 2nd email he sent was from a different e-mail address and name. Maybe that's the way craigslist works? I'm passing on this dude.

I have my own mover for a nos kit...lol....without a doubt it's BS

Scam but not neccessarily phishing. They would send you a check for OVER what you want. The extra would be to 'pay' the moving company. You would cash the check, pay the mover, give up your item, then later you would find out that the check bounced. You would be out your item, the cash you paid to the mover, and the bounce fee.

guaranteed, tell them to send you the check and forward it to the police in your town without opening the envelope. doubt they would do anything with it but it may be worth a try. if they send it through the mail you may contact your local post master. mail fraud is a big felony if i remember correctly.
