Uh, nobody replied.:eek: Maybe it wasn't the problem in the first place? What are you trying to fix? Why did you replace it? Is it adjusted correctly? Do you get a RPM reading on your ScanMaster (or other method of reading data)? How many crank sensors have you tried? Need more information.
 
crank sensor was loose tried to tighten and broke it ,tried 2 new sensors and car will not start.
 
thanks for info post,but i have tried all of those directions and nothing works,the new sensors look a little different. wider posts between grooves could that be the problem.

What brand are you using? that could be the problem.

Try to find an AC Delco one or the BWD brand that O'Reilly's sells is good also that's what i'm using.
 
Have you tried using a multimeter to actually check and see if the sensor's working or are you just assuming it's the problem?

A cheap noid light from the auto parts stores might be easier to do the testing with and follow the troubleshooting on this site.

4) Pull the fuel injector harness off an injector (mash in on the spring clip on the bottom of the connector and lift the connector off the injector). Plug your Noid light into the connector. Crank the engine. Does the light blink steadily while cranking? (this verifies that the injectors are receiving injector pulses from the ECM and the crank and cam sensors are working)

Trouble Shooting
 
Unplug the crank sensor and check for voltage on the pins between a body ground and the connector. (from the harness) when you find 5 volts (i think that ones 5 vdc) then measure between that pin and the ground on the connector and ake sure it's pretty close to the same. Then set he multimeter to check resistance and measure across the sensor while you rotate the engine. You should see it change from open to closed as the reluctor ring asses through it. If you get the resistance change the sensor is fine.
 
Hmmm Ive been meaning to do mine too. My GN still runs decent, but the sensor is rubbing the reluctor ring.
 
If the bracket that holds the sensor is too loose, you might be trying to use an 85 style bracket on an 87 sensor.

The early bracket is considerably wider than the later bracket.

BOTH brackets are now obsolete from GM.
 
I dont think the bracket is loose my sensor adjustment must be off I will try again today.
 
Use a match book cover as a spacer and make sure your in the correct groove.

Make sure you didnt damage the two wires going the plug on the sensor. Sometimes people pull on the plug and rip the wires internally.

Simple device.. not much there.
 
i have been laying under this car for 4 days now and have tried 4 new sensors,this car wont start,i barely had the strength to write this and this car is going to kill me.
