i didnt get done in time today , mainly because i couldnt find the third converter bolt! what a bunch of crap.. had to go by vato zone and buy a 4-pack, so by the time i did, it would be too late to fire up the car right now..

but it is all bolted up and primed.. the only thing left is:


1. solder the brown alternator wire to my lt1 alt plug
2. set the cam sensor
3. mount the coil and plugwires
4. belts!
5. fill with coolant (well.. water and seal tabs!)

then.. yeaah buddy... well.. for about 10 minutes anyway while it warms up and i check everything for leaks and what not. then i get to let it cool down for 24 hrs and retorque the head bolts....

then i get to have some fun. its been TOO long.. im excited... can you guys tell?

Congratulations! It's a great feeling isn't it? It took me 2 1/2 years to put mine together. I almost peeeeeed my pants when it finally fired up cause I was so excited! Keep us posted.

welllllllll.........

1. mf'ing water pump died...... was leaking when i was filling the car with water

2. broke #1 plug trying to get it out so i could find the compression stroke

3. the cam sensor doesnt work................ 9.2 volts... not "~7.5" and it NEVER F'ING DROPS!! EVER!!! i dont know WTF is going on.


otherwise, it should have started.. im very frustrated.

LOL on the water pump. They always leak when they sit up for long periods. The only two parts my new motor has in common with the old one is the alternator and water pump. Guess what two things were bad as soon as I fired the new one up.

Cam sensors are getting cheaper through KIRBAN! Water pumps...I hate those things....I wanna go eletric, but I dont ahve a fabricator to help out with that deal, and for the spark plug....dont be like that ****ty ass History Channel Show where it doomed the project!!! (sarcastically)- Oh no!!! I Broke a spark plug!!! It is all over now!!! OH NO!!! AND THEY WERE CHAMPIONS!!!! OG GOD THE HORROR!!!!!

lol....Plugs are only 2.49 a piece for good ones...they are no big deal...the cam sensor is....Worry about that as soon as you spend 3.00 on that spark plug, and then get to the hard stuff!!!

yea it was just a pain in the ass cause i had to drive 15 mins to get another NGK cause autozone doesnt sell em, and by the time i got back it was dark and B#$Y#$($%@#... bs..

Just noticed that you use NGK plugs, do they work well with these cars? At work, (Ford/Mazda dealer) we swear by them, but I hadn't heard of anybody on the board using them. Just curious. Thanks.

I am pretty sure I had the NGK's prior to noticing the motor was wiped out!!! lol...car ran like a bat outta hell!!! hahahahaha....whose laughing now? certainly not my wallet!! I get any of my aftermarket stuff that is common, from Advance Auto...they are real good with prices.

yeah.. i concur. the ngk's are awesome.. i used to run 42's on my car and i think it ran better...... ur5's are about the same heat range so i decided to try em out.. no problems at all.


but yeah.. update... nothin yet.. weather dropped 30 degrees and raining.. so no junkyard trip today. maybe tomorrow .. i'm so ready.
