Don't forget the Dodge "Little Red Express" trucks. They are still pretty cool.:)

I went the cheap route with my old SS. I bought a 96 that had already been converted to an LT4. I still had the respect of an LT4 SS since half of nobody knows the 96 never came with one stock because of the LT4 GS Vettes out the same year.

Don't forget the 29(?) LT4 Firehawks they made also.

How about something from the last year of Oldsmobile? Did they put out any kind of special edition car signalling the end?

FWIW & IMHO:
Wasn't there was a '68 or '69 ZL1 Camaro released out of the factory, with headers in the trunk to be dealer installed, and maybe intake manifold and carburator in the trunk also, to be dealer installed, pushing about 500 horse? There was also at least 1 document & verified Corvette ZL1 released out of the factory. I believe that there were 69 camaros like that. I have read/heard that the facility where the GM records were stored burned and therefore, GM will only authenticate 1 or 2 of the vettes, but '69 or so of the camaros. Every so often you will see one of them on the auction block for sale at some pretty high prices. Most of this information came out of Roger Huntington's book," American Supercar" which I leant out to a friend to never be returned. Oh, my vote for collectable late model vehicles would go to the Buick GNX, the Chevrolet '95?-'97? Impala SS'S with the Vette? motor. Z06'S will never be a hot collectors item. There were/are too many of them. And some of the other cars mentioned in here that I have never seen, Firebirds, & so forth that I know exist

Nothing.
There are FEW cars that appreciate such that they have investment value. Good examples are some of the rare Hemi cars, such as Cuda convertibles. The ones that have greater future value are most likely ones we would no expect to appreciate significantly.

IMO, when you choose a car as an investment that you cannot drive, you must include insurance and sorage against the investment. I once calculated the present value of a ZERO mile GNX to approach $100,000 before it could be considered to be a positive investment. I'm talking BREAK EVEN with the rate of inflation!

Unless you've borrowed it without me knowing, it still has 9,000 miles ;)

That is an awesome 96 SS you have. I havent seen an LT1 with that much power, with the exception of Lawrence Conelys Camaro which is far from streetable.

GM built 69 1969 ZL-1 Camaros and 2 1969 ZL-1 Corvettes. No headers or intakes in the trunk. That was the cross-ram Z-28:)
The last claim I read was in, I think, Musclecar Review where they dynoed an L-88 (same as a ZL-1 but with an iron block) and it put out 550-600 horse with headers and a super tune. Also, there is a registry that has a list of every ZL-1 Camaro built by GM.

Thanks. :)

And Lawrence Conleys car makes ALOT more power than mine, but I don't think it's an LT1.

Sorry, for some reason I thought it was in the 20's.

3rd gen Firebird PROAM's
Turbo Grand Am or Prix ( I think it was a Prix, Turbo 4cyl only ever saw a few)

Well to answer that question accurately you need to look at trends.

Right now older musclecars are hot again. Prior to these booms, earlier cars 20's - 50's were the hot and still are to an extent.

In 10 years or so, you'll see history repeat itself with some newer cars - guaranteed and the rarer the car...the bigger the money.

Barrett - Jackson said the same thing in an article a couple years back and they know a thing or two about this.

1. GN's, GNX's & TTA's
2. 1LE 3rd Gen's
3. ZR1 Corvette
4. Anniversary T/A's & Camaro's
5. Hurst Olds

I'm leaving a few out I'm sure..I recall Barrett Jacksen even looking upon front drive performance cars like the GLHS favorably also.

Wish I would have held onto my 6bbl Roadrunner

:(
