Howdy ya'll,

fabricating up my the plumbing on the Riviera and with some careful beatings with the hammer I have been able to move my radiator back so the fan is only 1/2in from the waterpump spindle. This gives me enough room for a roughly 18in Wx 21in Hx 3in T intercooler that would take up the entire front radiator opening of the car. As such I'm debating on whether its a good idea to use all of the space for the intercooler or make it smaller to allow unimpeded air to the radiator? The radiator is a BeCool unit that is around 22.5in wide, 19in tall, and 3in thick; its backed by a Ford Taurus 2spd 3.8L Essex" fan with a complete shroud. I'm boxing in the area between the bumper and the core support, adding an air dam under the core support and putting cooling vents in the sides of the fenders to let the air out so I'm honestly on the fence between a max space intercooler or something shorter that will leave air flow over the top into the AC condensor and radiator.

There are a few Deisel intercooler floating around on craigslist around here that are too big but since they are designed to be front mounted, would it be a good idea to pick one up and have custom tanks welded onto it for a good starting core?

Ya'lls thoughts?

You can buy custom made cores, then you can get end tanks fabed up for them. Try google.

I am aware that they make custom cores already but 1 they are expensive and 2 they might be too dense on the fin count to really use it taking up the whole open cooling area of the car. The radiator isn't really isn't all that big and I'm worried about having enough air flow through it so that it can do its job.
