Cutting Chrome Turbo Shield for downpipe?

I will be installing a TA Performance 3 1/2" downpipe that I picked up recently. Does anyone have any experience cutting an aftermarket chrome turbo heat shield? Figured someone here has cut one and might have a recommendation or 2.

My father owned a chrome plating business when I was a kid.....

I would not use any kind of saw that could pull on the bond between the chrome/nickel/copper. I would use a cut-off wheel starting the cut on the chromed side. This way you would be sanding/grinding through the chrome....

I have done it and I used masking tape. I also used a grinding wheel to cut it with. I'll post some pics later . Can't even tell that I cut through the Chrome.

Thanks for the tips. If I cut it I'll take before and after pics. After seeing SpoolFools custom heat shield I am thinking of going that route. I know a couple Union tinners that I may be able to get to try making one.

Put blue paninters tape on the area to be cut and draw you line. Once you're happy just some sort of cutoff wheel to at least scribe the area first. After the cut smooth the edge with some sort of round grinding wheel. Keep in mind the exposed edge will now be unplated and will begin to oxidize. Might not be a bad idea to coat it with something like BBQ paint.
