Cutting chrome turbo shield

After installing my 3" KM downpipe my crome shield no longer fits. Anyone ever cut there's to fit without chipping the chrome?

TAPE over the entire area tightly. A few layers of masking tape will do. Then use a jig saw with a fine blade and cut slowly.
