it was my understanding that the shifts and firmness of shifts will not be any different if in D or OD...OD is just a economy gear and it's best to just let it shift into OD on it's own rather than letting the rpms climb in D cruising around and then manually shifting into OD...it's just an added gear for fuel economy...
basically the only difference between the two is that when you drive around in D on the street...you are not allowing it to shift into OD and thus the rpms climb higher and higher past 40 mph until you decide to actually shift into OD and then rpms drop and the TCC locks up and then rpms drop some more...
same thing happens when you leave it in "2"...once you hit 2nd gear the rpms will climb and climb and climb and the trans will not shift until you manually shift into "D"...
but what do i know...i fried all my clutches and my tranny is toast!
