leg up on ds , i dont think so
tlink reads though the aldl port and updates at about 1 frame of date for every 1.5 seconds , lots can happen in 1.5 seconds , like you can completely miss a shift point event and dont know rpm or what occurs when it shifts , you could miss the whole launch , or the last second and a half of a run
on a run theres only about 12-14 seconds of data that matters , 1.5 seconds between data frames is a joke .
directscan reads 18 frames per second directly from the ecm , thats a lot of info and it doesn't miss a thing . yes its got its downsides as far as ease of initial installation and can take a few tries to get the connections clean enough to work properly but once its in and working it works great . i keep the DS box under the floor mat and cable under my passenger seat and when its time to get some info i can put the laptop on the seat and set it to record off tps , make a run and hit the spacebar , save and then reveiw the data
