Jim I'm going to get tics for the concert on 1/31. They are not going to be touring down in the south so I guess I'm going to head north and stay a long weekend with Mom and Dad (East Brunswick). I have not been to the Prudental Center as of yet, is it a decent arena??? they could have picked a better location though... Newark is a $hithole.

I hear the Pru center is awesome, but it is in a $hithole area. They tell you to take public transportation (NJ Transit). Security is heavy on the walk from public transportation to the center. I'm working on box seats for the 1/31 show. I know someone who knows someone with a 20-seat box. From what I understand, all the boxes have awesome views. Otherwise, my 02/01 tix are on the floor and look decent.

Last time I saw them was in '04 or '05 with Godsmack. It was an awesome show. I don't know much about The Sword or Machine Head - I hope they're good.

After listening to this CD all weekend I am very impressed. I love this album! I am a true Metallica fan from Kill'em All thru the Justice album. The Black album started the demise that ended up with St Anger, Napster, JAmes in rehab, ect, etc,etc...

It appears they finally got their act together. Do you remeber how you could listen to Master/Puppets, Lightning, Justice for All CD's over and over again. Thats where I am at with this new CD. I admit I was not excited about this new work until I heard it. They took the old school roots and added the 20+ years of experience to produce this CD. You will NOT be dissappointed. I think I will pick up about 40 extra pounds on my bench press tonight playing this CD for my workout session. :D

Metallica Rules again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to train to Slayer/Disturber/Pantera/Ramstein/Kreator/Old Metallica...ect. you get the picture. Nothing like getting the adrenaline flowing through some aggressive slamming thrash and grinding out the iron.....

When I heard this song,

I couldnt get into it so I listened to the "My Apocolype" I was used to,

The new Metallica is ok but I have progressed beyond them. Like drugs they were my "gateway" into a more agressive metal in the 80's. I listened to a lot of hair metal and Metallica sort of broke that up and I moved into them, Anthrax, Slayer, Pantera, etc.. until I grew bored of the music and wanted something faster, more brutal. I started listening to S.O.D. and that moved into what I guess is now called hardcore metal and also death metal.

Since my opinion is clearly biased I guess dont listen to me. :D Its good, but I wont buy it, I will stick with my brutal metal that still gets the adrenaline pumping.

I have seen Metallica 8 times since '86 on the Puppets tour. I lost interest after the Black album. I will give this new album a chance.....

Same here, I gave the last album a chance too, oh man was St Anger the worst CD ever, it sucked so much my DVD player disappeared into a black hole of SUCK when I listened to it. But I'm downloading this one now, I'll listen to it a couple times and chime in again later.

I'm not a die hard fan or anything but I did kind of grow up listening to them. It seems to me like they kind of sold after "In Justice For All". Iv'e heard that said before and it makes sense. Anything before the Black album is completely different. Listen for yourself. The new stuff just doesn't seem to have the same drive.
You shouldn't have to force yourself to listen to a new album until you like it. That's not the way it was with the old Metallica albums. :frown: Just my 02.

Eh. I'd probably still go to the concert though.

I agree about not forcing yourself to listen to it. I did that with Load and Reload and St. Anger. This album is different. I WANT to listen to it. It just plain rocks.

I'll leave you a copy with your charger (a legit, shrink-wrapped copy for those who care - I have 4 of them). It's pretty good stuff. It does remind you of Ride the Lightning but not quite as raw.

I've said this before, but for those who didn't read that post, i'll say it again. I was the most die hard, faithful metallica fan probably in the world in the 90's. My room was plastered with nothing but metallica posters. at one point i owned probably 35 or 40 t-shirts. I listened to nothing but them, ever since i first heard "master of puppets" in high school. I had so many fights with anyone who said anything but "metallica's the best". I owned at least 2 or 3 copies of each album, until the world ended for me- the black album was released. I felt like my best friend shot me in the back. Since then, i tried to listen to the black garbage, crappy load, and even crappier re-load, then the king of all horse****e albums, st anger. Hated them all, obviously. Then death magnetic came out. It was like a little spark of that unexplainable thing came back, but just a little. I think the album would have been a HELL of a lot better if the guitar tone was more like it was on justice or master, that heavily scooped, compressed, mesa boogie mark 4 sound. Other than that, it's definately a huge improvement over the last 4 embarrassments.

I refused to own copies of these albums... I remember being in Bosnia in 1996 and waiting for the new Metallica album to come out (load). A guy there had gotten a copy sent by his wife in the mail... there were like 10 of us chilling in the tent listening to this foreign sounding album... all of were like WTF this is NOT the same group that I grew up listening to... Yeah I agree this album has a few slamming tunes, but is still not in the league of their first four albums.

I saw them in 86 Master tour with Ozzy. This is their best stuff since Justice. Cliffy would be proud...

Whoa there buddy... let's not get carried away here...

He said the best "since" Justice. I agree 100%. It was all down hill after the Justice album which was the pinnacle of thier career. They have come full circle again. It rocks.

Oh, i agree, it is the best since justice, no argument there (although that's not saying much, it's not too hard to do better than the black album, load, reload, or st. anger). What i was referring to was the comment that "cliffie" Would be proud. I seriously doubt that.

Yeah but if Cliff was still around we wouldn't have works of art like the video documentary "some kind of monster"....

I'm sure Cliff woulda left the band if he was witness to Lars and James extreme douch baggery....

Yeah the CD is pretty good. We went to ozzfest in late august where they were headlining...they released cyanide there for the first time and i new then I had to get the cd

Man this shat rocks! The more I listen to it the more I like it. Great lyrics. James nails it real good! :D
