Alright Metal fans, chime in with what you think.... I picked the album up this past weekend, "That Was Just Your Life" is definately slamming like the vintage records would open up with. I'd admit this album is definately better than their earlier work of the mid 90's - present. I will say that I've had to listen to the album a few times for it to grow on me. Maybe it's the fact that the songs don't really flow together well or I've become to accustom to their newer work. All and all I'd say a good showing, I'm planning on going to see them on tour regardless. Maybe I'm crazy but listen to the main riff in "That Was Just Your Life" and compare it to the guitar in "Jump in the fire" they sound quite allot alike... Anyway... thumbs up...:D

I should be getting this album tomorrow.(guy at work bought it to put on his mp3 player and is giving me the cd.) Hopefully it is good...last Metallica album I bought was ...And Justice for All.

I will probably go see them here in Salt Lake on November 3rd.

I need to check it out. So far what I have heard on Sirius, I like it!

All Nightmare Long Kicks Ass!!
It rocks from the intro all the way through.
I still prefer their older stuff, ( I think they're better lyrically) but this album is a move in the right direction.

Check this out. LEGO Metallica

Yeah it's a killer CD!! I got it at Hot topic for $5.00 the first day it came out. Not a bad deal. I really like the whole CD I just want to get my damn GTX running so I can drive a car with a CD player:mad:

Wow that rocks.... I guess some one had way to much time on their hands....

I bought it buy have not listened to it yet.
The two songs I have heard previously were the best in years.
I have seen them twice in concert, nothing rocks like the early stuff.

I have seen Metallica 8 times since '86 on the Puppets tour. I lost interest after the Black album. I will give this new album a chance.....

Alright...tried it out in my truck and it ROCKS. I am pretty impressed. Its a shame I cant listen to it on my $8000 home stereo theatre system. Instead its Barney, Scooby Doo and the Wiggles. I guess kids do run the house.:frown:

I was skeptical, but hopeful when I heard they were going to release a new one. From what I've heard on Sirius as well, (they did this whole deal last weekend with Metallica commenting on the songs, plus other influenced bands talking about them, great weekend!) Im gonna get it. I probably was gonna get it anyway. (yeah, I have St Anger, I'll admit, like it or not...) This is a great bunch of songs, but not an album in the traditional Metallica sense of songs flowing together like in the early days. Im a Met fan through and through.
I picked up some Bullet for my Valentine last week, and hear a lot of early Metallica in them, actually.
I'm buying Death Magnetic very soon. Good job Metallica! It was cool listening to them talking on Sirius about how songs came about, each of the members getting their own say in and everything. Gotta commend Sirius for a great coverage on the album release.

Which BFMV did you pick up?
I have the one that is couple years old and it actually has some good songs.
I hate the metal core screaming though...
That also kills some of the Children of Bodom songs as well.

Well I had a relatively good things to say about this album... until...My good Metal buddy called me a Metalisheep: this is a person who is blindly auwed by Metallica and their music no matter how bad it is. Anyway F#$K him, I'm enjoying some really fast Metal from my favorite band.... There are always fags that complain period.... Dude it's not F!@king 1983 or 1986... guess what those albums are history.... love them but move the f$%k on...bahhhhhh

Their old sound is gone. But they own that.No one will ever have that early Metalica sound. They were the best in their day hands down.figure these guys are way older and on the wagon now.Back in the day when they were stoned and blasted out of their minds they turned out their best stuff. The new stuff is not that bad. sounds a little like St anger but some of that guitar and bass is old school. They did a good job.

I got 4 CDs with the 4 tickets I bought for their 02/01 show in NJ. They haven't arrived yet, though. I can't wait! St. Anger was the most messed up pile of crap I've ever heard from any artist. I assume this is better - it can't be worse.

I've seen them about 5 times. The last time I saw them was after St Anger. At that concert, they only played 2 songs from that cd. It was funny though, Everyone sat down or went to get a beer during those 2 songs lol.

Jim I'm going to get tics for the concert on 1/31. They are not going to be touring down in the south so I guess I'm going to head north and stay a long weekend with Mom and Dad (East Brunswick). I have not been to the Prudental Center as of yet, is it a decent arena??? they could have picked a better location though... Newark is a $hithole.
