I noticed that my fan shuts down as soon as I shut off the car, and upon further inspection, I took the relay apart and it is very weathered and rusty. just wondering if somebody has a relay so I can shut off my car and have the fan continue to cool off my GN.

Thanks

Matt

Hello Matt,

Although your fan delay relay may look bad, it may still be functioning. In order for the fan delay relay to run the fan, the temperature of the coolant must reach 226 degrees farenheit and the high temperature override switch circuit must be closed after the vehicle is turned off. In many cases, we have found that due to aftermarket chips which turn the cooling fan on at much lower points while the engine is running, and installation of 160 degree thermostats, coolant temperatures never reach 226 degrees when the vehicle is turned off. Thus, the high temperature override switch never closes and the fan delay relay never turns the on the fan. The only way to diagnose this is to run a scanner which will indicate the coolant temperature sensor readings to see if this 226 degree value is reached when the vehicle is turned off.

If you still need a fan delay relay or a high temperature override switch, we have both of these discontinued NOS ACDelco parts on our website at www.nos4gn.com
