Dennis Kirban 8" K&N bracket

I bought an 8" K&N filter installation kit and the bracket that holds the MAF is not even close to fitting. Is this common? Do people just not use the bracket?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hello; I don't know what size k&n I had but I never used that bracket and it was that way for years.

Yes, stock MAF. I decided to cut and weld the bracket, my 8" now fits perfectly, no interference anywhere. I shortended the bracket, marked and rewelded it, turned the charcoal canister about 10 degrees or so, and rerouted/replaced the fuel return line from the canister.

Everything fits pretty well, and it seemed to give me quite a bit more throttle response. The rest of the car is bone stock with the exception of the breathers being replaced and the breather return being capped via Dennis Kirbans breather kit.
