That will cuase a multitude of problems. First is the adhesives used in that filter will breakdown with methanol, next is it poses a restriction to the inlet of the pump which will lead to a pressure drop in the output.

The poster should have done a better job with cleaning his tank before running into the issues he's had.

I found 2 PN for the Wix version, and I sent them an email about methanol compatibility. When I hear back from them I will ask about flow restriction.
 
The only filters I found where from Purolator for a Chrysler flex fuel vehicle. They were made out of stainless and used a special adhesive.. but the issue is any filter with a small micron rating will pose a restriction. This is why they ar placed after fuel pumps not before. A strainer is whats needed to keep trash out of the pump, not a filter. The issue is size, materials, etc.

I don't think the filter will pose a restriction for my flow rate, but might be a problem for those above.
