Ok guys. I flew to Austin today to resurrect my uncles Grand National before driving it home. It came time to attempt to fire and....No fuel pressure. I Am wondering what i should check?? when i turn key to ign on, i hear relays click but no pump sound or fuel pressure. and even while cranking fuel doesn't get to the rail. Should i check Relays ,Fuses, Voltage at pump? Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. The one thing making this situation tricky is that i have to have the car ready for a 750 mile trip before the end of tomorrow.

TY in advance
John

Check and see if the fuel pump harness is connected under the rear bumper. Some people disconnect this for theft prevention and it may have been left disconnected a while back.

Fuel pump connection under bumper is connected. should there be voltage at these wires with key on engine off???

also, there is a wired connecter unconnected by fuel pump relay that dives down the fender. the wire colors are green and two gray or white striped wires. does this have some where to plug in ???

One of them, can't remember which should have 12v present for 2 seconds while pump primes. But you dont hear the pump prime.

While jhanson1750 makes a good point about checking the fuel pump relay, it wont prevent the car from starting, just doesn't prime the pump. If you crank the engine long enough to get oil pressure up (about 4-6 seconds). If it refuses to start after about 10 seconds of cranking, then it's more than the fuel pump relay.

Can you confirm that 12V is getting to the pump? Can you hear the pump running for a second or two when you hit the key?I've had the fuel pump sieze on a few of my parts cars that would sit for long periods of time.Sometimes soaking the pump in Top Engine Cleaner or Sea Foam would bring them back to life.

Put 12V on the fuel pump test lead behind the alternator and see if you hear the pump.

I gave 12 volts to the prime wire, tested voltage on the pump connector and got 12.4v.

I dropped the tank, easier than i thought, other than wworking around spider webs .

Pulled the fuel pump assembly to see the strainer completly sealed up with a tar like substance, the rest of tank looks clean just a lil bit smelly(old gas stinks)

hopefully the injectors dont have that same tar $hit in them. Oh yea, in the interim im changing the feul filter. hopefully this bad boy will be resurrected!!

TY for all input
John

Well best of luck. I would run some 93 through it with some stp fuel inj cleaner. (If you get it started) Good Luck Jon Hanson
