diagnose rattle

I have a rattle that sounds like it is coming from the front of the trans, very difficult to pinpoint. Has anybody ever unbolted the toque convertor and slid it back and then started the engine? This would let me know real quick if it coming from the tranny. TIA

Turned out to be loose torque converter bolt.

That is so common. Happened to me too.

Thanks for the replies and good to know no issue with starting the engine with the T/C unbolted. Relief to have found it. I was going nuts trying to isolate.
