Did I just lose my tranny?

Did I .......I was actually dropping it into reverse and did a quick burnout after I put it into Drive, then it didn't want to shift into drive and took a lot of power to put into reverse. This was after I had adjusted the tranny cable on the top of the throttle body. But I was looking inside my console and I can see where the belt on the shifter itself has a lot of slack. Did I break something simple, or something big with my transmission.

Ok the rod

that is inserted into the transmission linkage came out but it looks like something else is supposed to be in there? Like a bushing or grommet or something or am I mistaken?

There should be a plastic/nylon bushing that sits at the end of the spring on the rod. There should also be a keeper clip?? on the end of it to keep the rod from coming out ot the shifter braket as well.

I just checked and there wasn't one there....is there a specific part number?
