Well i picked up that 87' t-type today, and I can't wait to start buying the first mods for it. I wanted to know if there is any difference in the motor between the two. I don't think that there is, but I wanted to make sure. Do I need to look for parts that are only for the T-type? Or can I use GN parts?
thanks

Actually the 87 Turbo Regal isn't really a T-Type...some call it Turbo-T..some just "T"...not really sure what it is so I just call mine a Turbo Regal or "T"...depends on what parts you're talking about...engine/drive train no difference...some interior pieces will be different between the two...wheels are different...if you want to retain the original "T" look then some parts from a GN aren't interchangeable...

Up to and including '86 Buick called them T-Types. For '87 they were called Turbo T's.:)

I found this out a little late myself. I orderd my personalized plates for the WE4 I just bought thinking it was a TTYPE WE4 and its not . My second choice on my plate order form was TTYPE 6.

Anyone from Illinois have this plate? I hope!

I am going to feel real stupid if thats what I get.

Third choice was TT WE4

Cool huh

Thanks for all the info. Just wanted to make sure, before I start ordering a bunch of parts.

There are no differences in what you are referring to (engine/trans, etc).

They also use the same upgraded fuel pumps, filters, FPR's, scan tools, and spring cleaning.......hint hint.

Good luck and welcome. Sorry, there is no support group for turboholics, you are now doomed.

"T" vs GN

In '87, the "T"s were much more rare, as well as being available in an assortment of nice colors, both inside and out. (better paint jobs, too) And they had better wheels than the GNs. And a better choice of options. (Could build a "lightweight, if you wanted to, or get a Limited) Even though the "T" would logically be much more desireable, and thus more valuable, PERCEIVED value is what sets market prices, so you can a better, more valuable car for less money. The joys of a free market! I suppose it's possible that some may not share my views.

Wrong. In '87 you could get the "T" package or you could get a "Turbo-T" package which was the GN-lookalike. All Turbo-Ts were black with no badges and the aluminum finned wheels. The "T" package could be appended to any Regal or Limited (turbo or not) in any color offered that year.

The way I look at it is if it had the T package and a Turbo it is a Turbo-T. You can get a T-package with out a Turbo. And the WE4 is still listed under T-package. Sounds a little confusing. I spoke to Kirban about this and he said it is a Turbo-T. Any proof Scott231 that it isn't a Turbo-T?

Hmmm...

Then what should I call my car? It is an 87 T all black with black bumpers, window molding, etc. Just a Black T badge witha red T in it. I have always called it a Turbo-T. I was told they only made like 1547 T's in 1987 and only 250 or so came as mine did. Kind of a GN clone from the factory!:D

So what do I call it?

i don't get it

is there much hate for monte SS on this board?

if so i think i know why but refresh my memory.

It's not a "hate".
It's more of a joke because so many guys with GN's get the usual "Is that a Monte SS?"

ok

i get "jiffy lube regal" from other mechanics.

I was coerced into buying a SS in 96 by the dad, i wish i could go back 6 years, but i learned my lesson!

H/O's and 442's suck too.

Truth is , since you mentioned it, I like the looks of the 442 the most. If it had my motor from the factory, I'd be driving one. Guess it couldn't be a called a 442 tho, huh?
