difference between gn bumper chrome bumpers

i know this might sound stupid but i heard that a grand national bumper is different from a t type or buick regal bumper, different metals?????

One is chrome, one is black both are heavy. Some Regals (Turbo's and N/A's) came with aluminum supports insted of the steel ones. The export models came with an altogether different support due to them not needing to meet US crash test ratings.
