Different type timing chain tensioner

Does this tensioner work on our engines ?

It is from the newer 3800 engines.

Here it is installed on a 1987 3.8 LG3.

I don't have an answer but I do have a question. Since the gear is missing from the front of that camshaft, are you going to run the 3800 style cam sensor rather than the distributor style cam sensor?

I am going to use the stock distributor gear cam sensor. I am ,also using the TA performanc billet and link chain set up.

PM charlief1. I think he has used that tensioner on a 3.8.

I would have loved to use this tensioner but It Will NOT work. The timing cover cannot be mounted using this tensioner.
