OK,here it is.
And this sorta relates to my situation.

Current setup.......TE-44,009's, Razor's alky,dutt neck/stock intercooler,stock converter,and all the rest of the normal stuff.

If you could buy only 2 of the following what would it be and why? With the third coming a couple months down the road?

pt-61 turbo

60 LB. injectors(the high Z ones)

a higher stall converter(which one with a 61??)

KEEP IN MIND THE COMBO ABOVE

Fuel first, IMO. Get the injectors, and make sure the pump is up to the task at hand.

Mods I didn't mention..........

340(hotwired)
adj. fuel reg.
THDP
hooker cat back
rjc power plate
rjc boost controller
big mouth cold induction

IMO I would step up the injectors and get a good chip from TurboTweak.

Injectors first.

Converter and rebuild the tranny second.

Bigger than a 61 turbo third because you know you're gonna port the heads someday, going from a 44 to 61 zzzzzzzzz :)

63 large shaft or 66 ball bearing and 3200 to 3400 stall lockup.

Stock stretch intercooler 4th.

salvage,
will a converter of that stall 3200 to 3400 be alright with a te-44 and still be streetable?

Also when you say "rebuild the tranny"what excactly yo you mean.I'm guessing more than just a shift kit and a transmission cooler.
:D :D

Last one. Will 65 lb'ers be enough injector with the turbos sizes you metioned?

009's are fine for a te44 but do need to go bigger for a larger turbo. 32-3400 is good for a larger turbo but kinda hi for a 44.

Guess I should have asked how many miles were on the turbo.

I wouldn't pull the tranny down without rebuilding the stocker to a street strip version most vendors sell when installing the new converter.

Once you start hitting 22-25 psi. boost the stock tranny will let you know soon it needs some attention.

If that was done and it's okay save the converter install for when you buy the new turbo.

In that case, injectors first then the turbo and converter the same time if possible.

I don't think I'd want to swap a 44 for a 61 unless it was some way cool new fangled technology that you could take advantage of.

I'd try to tune for 26 psi. at the track with what you have.

PS: You should already have that tranny cooler I hope. ;)

You might pick up just as much with a good stock location intercooler as the new turbo if running the same boost level, plus there's the added pain of popping in the darn converter you will need.

Lots to think about.

Maybe spell the goals out for the car a little better, then we can all spend your money a bit more wisely. :D

Funny I have asked that so many times on this board. I get I want to run 11's:p 6 months later same member wants 10's. Me I say rip it out and spend the money so it is there, if you want a 11 sec car turn the boost down.

I myself I have learned running 13's12's11's etc. IMO is a waste of money, do right, do it once. You will always use the extra power someday.

I've got a 3200 LU Vigilante with my TE-44 and it's fine on the street. I'll have to admit I spool so fast that I'm practically sideways at any speed. I know that one day I'm going to want to go bigger on the Turbo so that's why I didn't go lower. I'm planning to keep a production block / head buildup and am looking for low 11's / high 10's one day, so 3200 should be adequate. I think I have one free re-stall through Precision so I'm covered incase I want to go crazy.

I say do the following:

1. Tranny buildup an converter.
2. Injectors.
3. Turbo.

ok,ok,ok you guys convinced me.Planning on building the transmission for a good low to mid 11 sec street/strip.SO a 9/11 converter will complament a te-44 fine for street.
