I've got 2 cars with these trannys & they don't have dipsticks. Is there anyway to fit them with one?? I haven't checked with the GM dealer on this yet.
Or am I SOL.

I don't think there is a spot in the case that will allow for a dipstick. What year 4T40's are they?

I'd say you are S.O.L. on that one. If someone does make a kit for it, it would require it to be torn down to the bare case and a big hole drilled for it. You are supposed to check and fill when hot so you have to burn your hands on the exhaust pipe to get the top plug off on most models. I got tired of it so I purposely overfill them some when I install one and drain the excess after road test. Stupid engineers.

I haven't even looked to see where the fill hole is but both have 50K mi. on em so a filter & fluid change are due. I'd think that if there's a fill hole that it would be big enough for a dipsick & tube.
Maybe not. Stupid engineers:rolleyes:

There is a cap, like on your vavle cover(engine oil cap). You unscrew that and fill it there. On the front of the trans there is a 11mm head pipe plug that you take out while its running to let the fluid run out. You let it run out till there is just a little coming out.
